The Dental Admission Test (DAT) is a multiple-choice standard examination demanded for all Canadian and American dental school candidates. It evaluates a candidate's likelihood of success in both dental school and a dental hygienist or dentist career.

Although the majority of dental schools require the DAT, the test results are only one aspect taken into account when assessing applicants. Validity studies have demonstrated the value of test results and academic achievement in predicting dental school success. Each dental school determines the relative weights assigned to these predictors during the admissions process.

Getting Ready for the DAT Exam

Taking a commercial prep course is one of the best ways to get ready for the DAT exam. Some students may be able to get by with just a DAT prep book, or even no studying at all, but for the majority of us, a review course and practicing platform will be the most efficient, affordable, and effective way to prepare for the DAT.

Our team of test-prep experts has released a user-friendly website for practicing for the DAT exam. With a format just like a real test, our website will be on the list of choices of test-takers. We advise you to look over it that works for both your budget and learning style. You'll increase your chances of success with this one.

What Our DAT Practice Test Includes

Let’s take an overview of our practice examination.

Overall, when it comes to the homepage of our website, what catches your eyes, at first sight, are two main sections: “Practice DAT Test By Topics” and “Take Full DAT Practice Test”. To meet the learners’ needs, the former functions as learning materials that are categorized into different topics or domains covering nearly DAT knowledge for practice. The latter mimics the real exam to check learners’ outcomes and create a chance for a mock test before taking the real one.

Practice DAT Test By Topics

The DAT practice includes a combination of multiple-choice questions, divided into 6 sections:

  • Biology: Diverse topics covered include developmental biology, evolution, vertebrate anatomy, diversity of life, cell and molecular biology, and ecology.
  • General Chemistry: Included in the concepts are gasses, liquids and solids, nuclear reactions, atomic structure, acids and bases, and periodic properties.
  • Organic Chemistry: Concepts covered include stereochemistry, bonding, organic analysis, mechanisms, and molecular properties.
  • Perceptual Abilities: evaluates your aptitude for spatial visualization, particularly in the area of understanding two-dimensional depictions of three-dimensional objects.
  • Quantitative Reasoning: evaluates your ability to solve problems and measures your mathematical proficiency. This section contains a variety of questions, from basic arithmetic to more complex trigonometric issues.
  • Reading Comprehension: These passages are jam-packed with technical explanations and terminologies from science. You might be asked to determine the purpose of a passage, draw an inference, or pinpoint the main idea or a specific detail.

Within each section, there are 7 levels and 2 tests, divided into 2 stages. Stage 1 includes the first 3 levels and a mini-test. Stage 2 includes 4 remaining levels and a final test. Each level includes 10 multiple-choice questions. The mini-test comprises 30 questions covering knowledge of the whole first stage. The final test comprises 70 questions covering knowledge of the whole topic.

Remember! Our results recording system will notify you of the results you have achieved after your first attempt, for example, 6/10. However, you must answer all questions correctly to be allowed to move to the next level. Hence, you are allowed to do it again more than once and the false questions will automatically return until you correct all of them. Of course, if you are confident in any topic, you can skip levels and move to the mini-test or the final test immediately. You are considered to have passed the exams if your score is over 70%.

An extremely appreciated feature of our website is that after each question in the practice section, learners will immediately know whether their results are correct or incorrect. Furthermore, there will be an extremely detailed explanation for the question, which is right below the question section.

Take the Full DAT Practice Test

After practicing proficiently in the practice section introduced above, learners can choose a "DAT full test" to check their current level. The DAT mimics the real exam format.

The mimic test includes 180 multiple-choice questions within 200 minutes. Contestants will take the test within the allotted time frame. The test is passed when the test taker answers 70% or more of the total questions correctly. The clock placed right above the question section helps test takers be proactive in managing their exam time. Actually, the DAT does not have a "pass" or "fail" mark because the ADA uses an ability-referenced measurement. Your standard score compares your exam performance to all other students who took the same exam on the same day.

An outstanding feature is that test takers will not immediately know the results of each question in this part like in the practice one. After completing all the questions and receiving the final results, test takers will have the opportunity to review all the questions to see which ones they got right and which ones they got wrong. Detailed explanations for the answers are also attached right below each question. This helps test takers review knowledge more deeply and gain experience for the next test, especially in the real exam.

For convenience of use, we also released a mobile version of the application. Operations in the phone application remain the same as on the website. The only difference is that after completing the questions, you must click “Submit” to receive the final results of the test.

Practicing before taking any exam is extremely necessary. Finding a reputable and effective learning source is even more important. Each choice you make can determine success or failure. Trust me! The DAT practice exam will accompany you on the path to passing the DAT. Don't wait any longer, download the DAT Exam 2024 application on the App Store or Google Play or directly go to the website https://easy-prep.org/dat-practice-test.
