The ACCUPLACER is a series of placement examinations issued by the College Board that universities may require from accepted pupils. Through the assessment of students' reading, writing, and math abilities, ACCUPLACER assists administrators in determining whether or not students are prepared for college-level work and assigning them to the right courses.
The ACCUPLACER normally does not affect a student's admission to a college, in contrast to other standardized tests. Instead, the purpose of the ACCUPLACER is to assess students' knowledge across a range of areas and place them in courses that enhance their learning. Nonetheless, to be placed in specific courses, institutions could demand that students receive a minimum score on the ACCUPLACER exams. Colleges set their own minimum requirements.
With more than 8.5 million initial and retest exams given each year, ACCUPLACER exams have been in use for more than 30 years. So, for whom is this test appropriate? The ACCUPLACER is a measure of students' preparedness for college, therefore it can be needed of them in several situations, such as: new enrollees in their first year of study at a two- or four-year institution; transferring college students to a new institution; high school pupils who wish to participate in dual enrollment programs; English as a foreign language (EFL) learners. A special thing is that If the exam is not required by their university, students cannot voluntarily register for it.
The ACCUPLACER could seem like one more obstacle for a student to overcome when applying to colleges. Nonetheless, the ACCUPLACER is a tool meant to assist you, not to discourage you. The ACCUPLACER helps you place into courses that are appropriate for your level of knowledge and ability. To put it simply, the ACCUPLACER will make sure that you aren't enrolled in courses that are either too easy or too hard for your current skill level, which can be a waste of time and money.
Let’s take an overview of our practice examination.
Overall, when it comes to the homepage of our website, what catches your eyes, at first sight, are two main sections: “Practice ACCUPLACER Test By Topics” and “Take Full ACCUPLACER Practice Test”. To meet the learners’ needs, the former functions as learning materials that are categorized into different topics or domains covering nearly ACCUPLACER knowledge for practice. The latter mimics the real exam to check learners’ outcomes and create a chance for a mock test before taking the real one.
The ACCUPLACER practice includes a combination of multiple-choice questions, divided into 5 sections:
Within each section, there are 7 levels and 2 tests, divided into 2 stages. Stage 1 includes the first 3 levels and a mini-test. Stage 2 includes 4 remaining levels and a final test. Each level includes 10 multiple-choice questions. Normally, the mini-test comprises 30 questions covering knowledge of the whole first stage. The final test may comprise 70 questions covering knowledge of the whole topic.
Remember! Our results recording system will notify you of the results you have achieved after your first attempt, for example, 6/10. However, you must answer all questions correctly to be allowed to move to the next level. Hence, you are allowed to do it again more than once and the false questions will automatically return until you correct all of them. Of course, if you are confident in any topic, you can skip levels and move to the mini-test or the final test immediately.
The ACCUPLACER test is a placement test, so there is no passing score. The score you get will determine the appropriate classes in which you are placed. The College Board broke down the ACCUPLACER test score into five bands for reference:
Each university will select a certain score as the standard passing score. Depending on their university choices, you will identify your learning path to obtain the desired mark.
An extremely appreciated feature of our website is that after each question in the practice section, learners will immediately know whether their results are correct or incorrect. Furthermore, there will be an extremely detailed explanation for the question, which is right below the question section.
After practicing proficiently in the practice section introduced above, learners can choose a "full test" to check their current level. The ACCUPLACER simulates the real exam format.
We split into 5 separate sections like the practice test above and allot specific time for each section, as follows:
Contestants will take the test within the allotted time frame. The clock placed right above the question section helps test takers be proactive in managing their exam time.
An outstanding feature is that test takers will not immediately know the results of each question in this part like in the practice one. After completing all the questions and receiving the final results, test takers will have the opportunity to review all the questions to see which ones they got right and which ones they got wrong. Detailed explanations for the answers are also attached right below each question. This helps test takers review knowledge more deeply and gain experience for the next test, especially in the real exam.
For convenience of use, we also released a mobile version of the application. Operations in the phone application remain the same as on the website. The only difference is that after completing the questions, you must click “Submit” to receive the final results of the test.
Practicing before taking any exam is extremely necessary. Finding a reputable and effective learning source is even more important. Each choice you make can determine success or failure. Trust me! The ACCUPLACER practice exam will accompany you on the path to passing the ACCUPLACER.
