One well-known, academically grounded, nationally administered test that measures the fundamental abilities adults need to succeed in life and at work is the Test of Adult Basic Education or TABE®. TABE has been a widely accepted assessment instrument in adult education for half a century.

Updated to meet the strict Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) regulations of today, TABE 11 and 12 are the most recent versions of the Data Recognition Corporation's assessment for adult learners. It complies with the College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards.

Why Need To Take The TABE Examination

An important resource for adult education is the TABE exam. It is a tool that many businesses use when hiring new staff. To guarantee that students have the fundamental abilities needed to succeed in school, schools also administer the TABE exam.

It will be difficult for someone who has trouble with math, reading, and language to finish an educational program, trade school, or a certain job. The results of the TABE can assist you in selecting a career path that will complement your learning style and enable you to succeed in your position.

Numerous programs are designed to accommodate students with varying levels of learning capacity. These institutions can track your progress using the benchmark that the TABE test helps to provide. It also chooses which assignments you should complete.

Your score on the TABE exam will determine your eligibility for numerous programs, even though you cannot pass or fail it. Therefore, it's critical to get ready for the test and give yourself the best chance to make a positive impact on your life.

What Our TABE Practice Exam Includes

Let’s take an overview of our practice examination.

Overall, when it comes to our website, what catches your eye, at first sight, are two main sections: “Practice TABE Test By Topics” and “Take Full TABE Practice Test”. To meet the learners’ needs, the former functions as learning materials that are categorized into different topics or domains covering nearly TABE knowledge for practice. The latter mimics the real exam to check learners’ outcomes and create a chance for a mock test before taking the real one.

Practice TABE Test By Topics

The TABE practice includes a combination of multiple-choice questions, divided into 3 core sections:

  • Language: The four content areas that make up the language portion of the TABE exam are standard English conventions, reading comprehension, text types and their intended uses, and vocabulary word breadth and practical application. All candidates are assessed on their knowledge of English vocabulary and conventions, and those in the easy through advanced assessment levels are also asked questions about texts.
  • Math: The twelve content categories that make up the math section of the TABE exam include algebra and algebraic thinking, formulas and expressions, fractions, functions, and geometry. Additional topics that deal with numbers and quantities are ratios, data and measurement, probability and statistics, base ten operations, and data. Typically, the evaluation of candidates will focus on their comprehension of four to six of the twelve subject areas. On the other hand, participants in the medium domain will be tested on almost every topic, except for algebra, functions, and numbers and quantities.
  • Reading: The TABE exam's reading section covers five subject areas, including recognizing words, phonological understanding, and phonics. These encompass assessing the composition and organization of texts, recognizing the primary concepts and details within them, and combining concepts and wisdom. In the domain of literacy, candidates are evaluated across all five categories. No tests on phonological awareness and phonics comprehension will be administered to those who fit into the medium, challenging, or advanced categories.

Within each section, there are 7 levels and 2 tests, divided into 2 stages. Stage 1 includes the first 3 levels and a mini-test. Stage 2 includes 4 remaining levels and a final test. Each level includes 10 multiple-choice questions. The mini-test comprises 30 questions covering knowledge of the whole first stage. The final test comprises 70 questions covering knowledge of the whole topic.

Remember! Our results recording system will notify you of the results you have achieved after your first attempt, for example, 6/10. However, you must answer all questions correctly to be allowed to move to the next level. Hence, you are allowed to do it again more than once and the false questions will automatically return until you correct all of them. Of course, if you are confident in any topic, you can skip levels and move to the mini-test or the final test immediately. Noticeably, there is no failing or passing score on the TABE. The test score is estimated based on the number of correct answers that the test takers get. Thus, test-takers often try their best to correct as many questions as possible on this exam.

An extremely appreciated feature of our website is that after each question in the practice section, learners will immediately know whether their results are correct or incorrect. Furthermore, there will be an extremely detailed explanation for the question, which is right below the question section.

Take the Full TABE Practice Test

After practicing proficiently in the practice section introduced above, learners can choose a "full test" to check their current level. The TABE simulates the real exam format.

The test includes 200 multiple-choice questions within 270 minutes. Contestants will take the test within the allotted time frame. The clock placed right above the question section helps test takers be proactive in managing their exam time.

An outstanding feature is that test takers will not immediately know the results of each question in this part like in the practice one. After completing all the questions and receiving the final results, test takers will have the opportunity to review all the questions to see which ones they got right and which ones they got wrong. Detailed explanations for the answers are also attached right below each question. This helps test takers review knowledge more deeply and gain experience for the next test, especially in the real exam.

For convenience of use, we also released a mobile version of the application. Operations in the phone application remain the same as on the website. The only difference is that after completing the questions, you must click “Submit” to receive the final results of the test.

Practicing before taking any exam is extremely necessary. Finding a reputable and effective learning source is even more important. Each choice you make can determine success or failure. Trust me! The TABE practice exam will accompany you on the path to passing the TABE.
